Welcome to the official website of the Great Ouse Kite Flyers, a great Kite Club.
Who are we?
A group of people from all walks of life, and a varied age range, who have a common interest – kites. We are sociable, family friendly and come from a wide catchment area – mainly from the counties which border the River Great Ouse, but also from beyond.
What do we do?
We hold regular “fly-Ins” at Ferry Meadows, Peterborough, Cambs, where we meet to fly and also to chat and assist others, an annual Festival, and occasional barbecues. We attend other festivals all over the country, and abroad, sometimes to take part with a display, others just to fly socially, meet other kite flyers and enjoy the day. We have held workshops where we have had assistance in constructing our own kites (easier than you think with expert help!!).
Can I join?
As a club we welcome new members even if you have never flown a kite or just want advice as to what to fly and where. Membership is open to everyone, there are no age, race, disability or creed barriers. Membership Fee is currently just £12.00 per annum for single or family memberships. Members receive regular editions of the Club Newsletter (Highlines), automatic public liability insurance cover at club arranged events and fly-ins and the opportunity to stretch those lines and fly well in excess of the standard 200 ft limit. Please ask for a membership form, or download one from our main website

General Club Information
The Club is now over 30 years old and we are continuing our years of happy kite flying events and our educational outreach. As a club we welcome new members even if you have never flown a kite or just want advice as to what to fly and where. Please come and join us at any of our fly-ins.
Members in "club clobber", as we call it……our blue tops with distinctive logo have become widely recognised across the country. Other flyers know that GOKF are a friendly and helpful group of people.
We hold regular fly-in meetings throughout the year. Please look at flying dates. As a club we also arrange our very own Peterborough Kite Festival at Ferry Meadows which in 2012 will be on 10th June.
Members are also encouraged to make their own kites (adults and juniors) and hone their sports kite skills if they wish. To this end, awards for both activities are made at our AGM in November each year
