BURTON

PLEASE NOTE…………hand held kites only, no mecahnical winches, no PA system. These factors are governed by Health and Safety issues, and by site Byelaws put in place by Warwickshire County Council. This event is being arranged by Steven Neal, NOT by GOKF, but Steven extends his warmest invitation for you to come along and fly kites.

Steven Neal is arranging permission for a fly-in on 20th June , not the 13th as previously arranged,  at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park for all GOKF members to attend. He is now also offering another fly-in date at the Hills on 18th July

Steven’s idea is to have an informal fly-in at the site, perhaps an altitude sprint or two, and for those of you who are inclined to think big, to fly kites up to a 2,500 ft ceiling! Yes, there are loos at the place and apparently you can take a BBQ. Burton Dassett Country Park does have a web site…easy to find by a "search".

The site is off the B4100 and about halfway between Warwick and Banbury. It does show on road maps, but if you want directions just ask Pete West……he knows some devious ways a driving there! So, if you don’t fancy Ferry Meadows that day…..go to Burton Dassett, but be prepared to leave a little more time for travelling.

For further information you can contact Steven on 01926 497551 but you may not wish to "expose" your telephone number and prefer to come through me (Pete West). He has also invited you to look at his website www.countrysidekitefliers.com which is mainly photos and Blog pages.

ROYSTON

Yet again we have been invited by the Rotary Club to attend the Royston Kite Festival this time on 1st August 2010………..

You know this is a great site. On the side of a hill, wonderful views, great company and not too far to travel. I have of course said "Yes, we will attend", so make a note in your diary now. I will keep you informed of detail when I get the information.

THE

The time has come to fly and eat chocolates once again!

Our Chocolatier, Stephen, has once again invited GOKF members to go and fly kites and enjoy the pleasures of chocolate on 25th April 2010.

Start the day by meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the Cafe Trio, 15 Wigmores South, Welwyn Garden City.AL8 6PL. You should be able to park along Parkway from John Lewis downwarsd towards the fountains and then partake of breakfast if you feel that way inclined….or just a coffee?  After that, move on to the usual flying location at 61 London Road, Woolmer Green, SG3 6JE……….follow Stephen !

Height clearance for the day will be 650 feet. If you want more information, send an enquiry to Pete West first and he will put you in touch with Stephen.

They do say that for every chocolate you eat, you need to wind in 500 feet of line to burn off the calories!!!!
