VOYAGER
Two invitations, two chances to fly and two new sites. I am in negotiation with the Voyager School and the National Trust respectively to have GOKF appear at these two events this summer.
The Voyager School, Peterborough is hosting a community day on 21st August 2010 and have invited GOKF to attend along with many other clubs and societies…..this will be an opportunity to meet the general public and hopefully find some interest and some new members.
I am aiming to obtain an outdoor pitch on the very large playing field in front of the school where we can hold a children’s kite making workshop and have some demonstration flying to attract "customers". The more of us there for an excellent chance to gain publicity, the better.
Tattershall Castle, owned by the National Trust, is in Lincolnshire and very close to RAF Coningsby where the Memorial Flight is based. The Trust is holding a Father’s Day special….on Father’s Day ….which is 20th June 2010 and intends to have a variety of father and son based activities (I did point out that many kite flyers are female!).
Again, a children’s kite making workshop should go down well and will give the children a chance to fly at a unique location in front of the Tattershall Castle Tower (130ft)!!! For anyone who wants more space, there is ready access to a large open area outside the castle walls……..in case you are wondering, I have cleared it with RAF Coningsby and we are OK to fly but only to 200ft please. The base is within a mile and there is a good chance of seeing the Memorial Flight passing near the castle.
Details of both events will follow nearer the time. Pete West
